Adam, that is really nice. What paint did you use?

I was able to get some more work in this weekend. Got a set of narrow rims and had them sandblasted, and painted BMW White. New set of ag's on the front to match the rear.

Got the rear pan on, and did some other odds and ends. I hooked it up to the skid steer bucket and pulled it around the yard when I got bored...

Well, we had a major setback this morning. The BGB started to leak from the seals, and the guy that was looking at it opened it up and said it should be replaced. Now the tractor has to be split in half again and taken apart. More than likely its going to have to end up getting repainted. Siht happens...

Big time bummer. I'd see if you can rebuild what you have and know it's 100%. Or buy another and rebuild that one. Note that I have at least three tractors which all need BGB's replaced/rebuild. Then I have two which need transmission work and one which needs engine work. Engine work is the easiest as I've swapped an engine in six hours.

I actually called a guy I got parts from before, and he had one at his house. He's actually from CT like us Mike. He had actually committing to selling it to someone last weekend, but the guy never showed up. I flew down there this morning and grabbed it from him for $45.

The only silver lining is that when I had originally put the tractor together, there was a bolt head that should have been a pin that prevented me from putting the rear lift on the tractor. When the tractor is apart I'm going to throw that on the tractor too.

Worst case it sets me back a couple of weeks.

Is there anything else that you guys have seen go bad on these tractors that I should be looking out for?

I had the transmission rebuilt, now the BGB, rebuilt carb, new wiring, new starter/choke, new hydro lines, new fuel line and filter, new ignition

There are three things I'd make sure are 100% before assembly:

1. The BGB
2. The hydrolift (no leaks in lines)
3. The transmission

After that, you can swap or replace anything else easy. I've not replaced a BGB nor transmission as I've not been able to get enough time in one sitting to complete those projects. I have just moved to the next tractor. I am thinking of trying a transmission swap without removing the BGB, I can't see why that can't be done. The worst is the BGB. In my opinion.

The thing that is annoying about the design of the 212, and maybe the other AC tractors is that the bolts that hold the rearend and BGB are from the inside out, thus, you can only remove them by removing the main consolt and everything else. Poor design.
