This eight inches was about as heavy as it gets, bottom four inches was slush. Have to keep your blower clean and rust free, wax helps a lot, spray silicone does too, but only lasts one storm. I dont use anything except keeping it from rusting. You do need a lot of power, this wet eight inches was about all my 3416H will do making full width passes with the 42" blower |

| well i tried the silicone and i guess the snow is just too heavy cause the all the belt where screeching and smoking,and the plow truck isn't running so hopefully the snow will melt soon |

What do you have for a tractor and blower? My BIG TEN with it's 36" blower would have had trouble, but my B-210 I used on some wet snow a couple of weeks back and its variable in 2nd worked fine
I dont think the silicone drys at all, Sorry to hear your having problems. I've found with a 16 horse hydro running wide open there is a combination of tractor speed and width of cut that works. The blower has to be real smooth though, especially the chute. and you may have to take small widths per pass. The first pass grtting opened up up can be a problem, especially if you have a 10 horse with a straight 3 speed. Got to keep that auger turning fast. And even a small amount of surfsce rust will make it sticky. A LOT of gravel goes through mine keeping it clean, and I spray it with used oil when I take it off in the spring so all bare metal is nice and shiny.

A 36" makes a world of difference when running a 10 or 12hp tractor. Just ditching the extra auger to spin, regardless of how much bite you are taking into the snow, helps a lot. On rusty shutes, I've taken a cordless drill with a brass or nylon brush for removing paint, and knocked off all the rust and pitting I could, then simply shot it with oil or WD40, or whatever ws nearby. Throttle her up, and find that balance of ground speed, and size of swatch (depending on depth and moisture content of your snow) and away you go.
Light snow always seemed the most difficult to work with, for my blowers. That good heavy wet stuff just flies, like blasting a slurpee out of a straw! =] Sometimes I take an old 4" paintbrush that I use to sweep the workbench with, and sweep out the left over snow and slush when I'm done, to prevent ice-up in the chute, when the temps support it. Any left over ice from the last blowing will slow your chute quickly too. |

That's some funny looking rain Larry! We had some a week ago but it didn't stick, thankfully the ground is still warm. I have NO desire to deal with that stuff, I'd rather till and mow! |

The ground was just starting to freeze here, so I suspect it's going to be white for a while. I would like to say it'll melt in the next few days but I doulbt it. |

Well, that blower is designed to run off a engine shaft turning 3600 rpm, wide open for your BIG TEN. I would be very leary running WOT if the engine has never been apart, or the head off to see what kind of wear and ridge are in the cylinder bore. If there is much of a ridge you could easily break your top piston ring running it wide open. Ask me how I know...
But you are going to need to run it close to wide open to clear wet snow. It would be real nice if you had a hand held tach and could set it at 3200-3300.
I wouldn't have considered my BIG TEN for todays cleanup unless the plow was on it.
My two cents worth and all.
