Phil, Use my address. Come to Kentucky. Get your licence. Go home and transfer it back to your state.

Under 50cc requires no endorsement but must have license, insurance and registration even on an bicycle powered by two squirrels in a cage. Seriously an electric bicycle must be registered. BTW: sneaked the scooter out this evening an took it for a spin....That little booger will do 45 with my fat arse in the saddle. |

We have a very strict helmet law in LA. I got my insurance yesterday without endorsement, not sure how that works but got the bike registered in my name this morning. I am waiting on new tire before I get my endorsement.
I found some mirrors which I like better than OEm because they look over my shoulders rather than through them.

Easy Rider....Wild Hogs.....You're going wild on us Phil! LOL Love my Yamaha Virago 1100. Hadn't had it out in 2 months till this past Sunday. Been so hot all summer, then got so busy & stayed too tired to wanna ride. So Sunday rode the bike to Bardstown & had dinner at the Stephen Foster eatery, then took the long way home. Nice ride! Phil, have fun & above all be safe! The trick on a bike is to be able to give 70% of your mind watching for the "other drivers", the other 30% tends to your own driving. |

When I was in the service I was involved with the licensing and testing of motorcycle operators during my off hours. The #1 thing that got more people into trouble was when they developed tunnel vision. You have to be like a fighter pilot and pay attention to what is going on around you. #2 was over confidence or I can beat the odds mentality. Stay alert and stay safe. I envy you. I really enjoyed my Honda Helix years ago. I'll say it again, I sure like the color of your scooter.

Honda Helix. That brings back memorys. My friends out in Chicago had one and had me fix the carb because it had sat for 10 years or more. Was a stuck piece of crud in it that no matter what you did it wouldn't come out until I got the idea for a set of torch cleaner tips. Now I use them all the time. That scooter was the coolest, the size of a Goldwing and it would do 70 mph so easily went on the freeways around Chicago. They left it at my place for at least a couple years after I got it running and I'd take it out every now and then just for the thrill of riding. We finally got rid of it a a tag sale I had before moving out here. If I remember right they got $1200 for it. They were going to sell it to me for $500 or better but I had no room with all the tractors. |

I have been trying to stay off roads where the speed limit is higher than I can go. In other words I try to stay off the hwy. I head seems to be on rollers scanning all around even when sitting at a red light. I am particularly leery of cars coming up behind me. It is really hard to tell if they see you unless you see them slow up and the front end drop down under braking. I love riding on asphalt but hate concrete. The expansion joints either want to steer your bike of drive your butt up around your ears. All in all it is a hoot to ride but I know I look awfully silly sitting on it. I read somewhere that a guy that owns several large bikes also has one of these and loves to ride it but makes sure it is never when any of his riding buddies are around. |

You can work up an appetite riding for sure. Is the Virago 1100 a lot like my elite? Yeah, it has the throttle, and kill button on the right and the horn on the left... oh and two wheels. that about covers it.
Chris, Yellow is a great color, supposedly the safest. Thinking I need one of these also:

That sign would work! Also try and wear a bright yellow wind breaker. I read somewhere that yellow is the easiest color for the human eye to detect. After I purchased the Helix I acquired a yellow wind breaker that I always wore when riding and surprisingly people started staying away from me. I was fortunate in that I had 18 miles of back roads to drive to work. Just for the record, wildlife doesn't seem to care what color your wearing. And have fun.

Except that the Yamaha Virago 1100 (+/-500lbs) and my Honda VTX1800C (705lbs) dry, a tractor trailer wont shake you when it passes at 70mph on the Interstate. And if you see someone coming up from behind thats not paying attention to you, just GAS IT! Horsepower will save your A$$!!!!!!!!!!
Just a thought Phil. Your scooter or my VTX WILL kill ya. But so will drinking to much coffee or eating to much pizza... lol
If we live long enough, SOMETHING will kill us all... guaranteed!!! |
