Curious how many different dealer tags folks have out there, on their early machines? I've only had two, and one was on a blower I sold. This is the other. Just thought it would be neat to see pics of the tags you have, and maybe even how far from their original dealer location.

Bought new in Holly, MI...9.5 miles from where I picked it up 46 years later. It's now 118 miles from there, but looking much newer.

Unfortunately I have no dealer tags. This could be an interesting thread.

Thats a neat lookin one there. I like the font. Do you still have the implement in NY or has it crossed state lines to get to you? Do you have a tractor you think it belonged to originally?

Came across state lines, from NY to CT. The dealer was only 37 miles from my house. I had never thought of looking up the company until this post came up.

Found this website: http://www.hudsonvalleyruins.org/yasinsac/pville/pierce.html

Really sad that the company closed after 80 years. I think its representative of the small businesses in America getting run out by large commerical companies. Sad.

I couldn't find a lot, but know that Frank Gromak would be 101 years old today, and that he was sued by the Villiage of Holly in 1978. From the court documents...a nice history:

"The record indicates that in 1945 or 1946 defendant Gromak put a war surplus Quonset hut on the premises and started a farm equipment sales and service business. Around 1955, as farming in the area lessened, he switched emphasis to heavy industrial equipment including bulldozers, caterpillars, back hoes and fork-lifts which continued until 1967 or 1968 when he ventured into the lawn, garden and outdoor power equipment sales and service business."

So...there's a good change my '65 Big Ten would have been one of the fist GT's sold by good 'ol Frank =]

This is a great thread bc it gives you another avenue of tracing these machines back to their origination. The stores able the dealers are really interesting.

This is why I love this site

Here are two the I have.
This one is on my 5212.5

and this one is on the '94 Landlord I just got. I used to work for this one. First on his lawn service and then around the shop assembling equipment or doing pick-up and deliveries.

Together we can do anything.. The impossible just takes longer!
