Being older I like the ease of getting on and off the RBT's but the simplicity of the early FDT's.

From what I have learned from you guys here is that the 900/7100 series tractors are longer and dont turn as easy as the earlier RBTs. I missed out on a 712 at the Uncles closed dealership but this 917 will do once I repower..... I like the looks of this series. It is a monster compared to my FDTs.

At 6'6" I can step right over my Big 10... Easy to get on and off...

Sometimes My Big 10 looks tiny next to my RBT's, but it will turn in half the space of my 7112H. I like the 3400-7000 series RBT's, they are bit heavier and have a lower center of gravity than the 7100 series. And being a total fan of the Vickers Hydrostatic drive, the 3400 series is the only RBT with both the Vickers AND the cone clutch on the center PTO.

The earlier FDT's such as the round hoods are the most nimble of the Sovereigns with their 44" wheelbase. The only square hood with the short wheelbase are the B110 and their Simplicity counterparts. All the rest were stretched out to 48".

At some point in my life I was 5'11-1/2" but with a 29-30" inseam the step over is only possible at 60 by grabbing my cuff and lifting the leg over.

As i see someone before said it would have ben fun if you were young, and yes it sure is, my buddy who has MS and yes he is my age, has limited use of his legs, so we threw some quad tires on his a regular lawn tractor and threw away the deck and made it to his own offroad machine, i have my own play tractor he and i go out in the trails behind my house and mess in the mud when we get stuck i use my 3414 and tear them out without a hassle.
