This 3 belt gizmo Fits my Big 10 like a glove. Perfect FDT attachment! A weed cutter might be more perfect, but I dont have one of those yet.

I read about people cussing those 3 belt rigs but they sure look like they mean business. You are right it matches the looks of the ole Big Ten just fine. |

I think if they aren't well maintained and in pretty good shape you could have fits keeping belts on them, and having the engagement lever in the center of the grill leaves a little to be desired... Still, I like it. |

What is the 3 belt "gizmo" accomplishing? Is this to adapt later attachments to earlier tractors?

No, the 3 belt 990175 36" snowthrower is Simplicity's first tractor mounted blower, made for the 725. They only made it in 60-61 before changing to the 1 belt setup that could be turned on and off from the seat. I called it a gizmo because it looks like a "Rube Goldberg Contraption". It's actually pretty neat how all the arms and pulleys pivot and swivel to allow it to go up and down.
Since it's in great shape, and one of Simplicity's least desireable attachments, I'm stuck with it and figure I might as well have a little fun with it.... and giving me more time on the Big 10, priceless! |

It also looks like it acts as a reduction gear. I like it... I am sure it would be a risk management nightmare. |

Walking around the front on ice to turn it on and off certainly meets my criteria for "risk management nightmare". |

I love mine Larry, not only does it keep the tall weeds down on unmowed areas, it does wonders for my temperment mowing down saplings after a rough day at the office!

Wow.
So that is what I have to do if I ever want to get a snowblower running on my 725? |

Thanks Larry. I don't think I've ever seen one of those before. But I'm not an old timer when it comes to Garden tractors. Just old |

No, the mount is the same on all FDT's from the 725/B1 and newer. |

I LOVE it! I picked one up today from a local auction for $30. Its in great shape, but no hitch though...
I like the uniqueness of the odd/old attachments, even though they can be a pain to maintain. |

Could you post some pictures? This blower doesn't have a seperate hitch like newer ones. Everything is one peice and had everything to mount it. (except for a 1/4" key) |

Yeh, I guess you could be missing the hitch, I hope not. |

Nice pictures Larry, could be used as a reference for putting one together. I for one would like a three belt, just 'cause it's odd and dangerous looking! You brought up one of my most wanted attachments, the weed cutter. I have never seen one in yellow, anyone know if it was available Allis labeled? |
