Moved stuff in the shop yesterday and put some in my new storage building. This gives me just enough room to get my trailer in for a rebuild before going to the GOTO in Florida in February. I will be redecking it, straightening one top rail, replacing the fenders and splash plates, changing the rampgate to stowable ramps (to lower towing air resistance), replacing tongue jack and hopefully a paint job. Here are the before pics and I will post more as the job progresses. Dave.

Went to town this morning and picked up carriage bolts for new deck boards, new jack for tongue and Allis orange paint to cover ugly faded and rusted red original paint. Spent the afternoon removing old deck and cleaning up wood. Removed fenders and splash plates. Replaced tongue jack. More pics when progress is made.

Phil; I bought it used in 1991. I think it was about a year old then. The title says it is a 1990. I have redecked it once before and rewired and new lights at that time. Hope to get another 20 years out of it. Dave. |

I guess it doesn't look bad considering 20 canadian winters. |

Got more accomplished on the trailer today. Straightened both top rails. Made both ramps same length and welded ends in to strenghen them. welded angle iron bracket to each ramp so they will hook onto the angle iron I will be welding to the back end of the trailer. Last picture shows how I finished the day. Dave

Dang! You guys have way too much ambition and energy for the middle of the winter! The rebuild is looking good and its interesting to see the fixes and devices to get r dun!
I have a whole list of projects, but everytime I go out to the garage, I stare at them, move a few things around, and pretty soon the cold overcomes my good intentions. Guess I need some more anti-freeze in my veins or fix the garage so any heat I try to use doesn't all leak out of the garage.
Last picture looks like a good engineering session in process!
Keep up the good work! |

Are you going a week early so you can see the Daytona 500? Better yet the 2 weeks prior to that there's racing at Orange County (dirt) and New Smyrna for the Modifieds (asphalt).. Racing every single night for 2 weeks leading up to the 500. Be prepared to empty your wallet at the gate though. Last time I was down there for the Mod's at New Smyrna I think it was close to $25 a night. |

Richard. I won't be going to any auto races. Going early enough but wife wants to see Universal Studios and then we will be going to Flywheelers Park early to vegetate in the sun till show starts. Hope to get to Daytona for a couple of days during Bike Week but that is still up in the air. Went into town today to pick up welding rod; then spent some time in the shop. I ground off all the old welds on left splash shield and fender area. Installed left shield and fender. Hope to get right side done on Tuesday. More progress pics. below. Dave.

Coming along nicely Dave. Have you ever thought about putting a strip of expanded steel down each side of the bed. My trailer came that way and I love it. You can hook your tie down straps any place you need to. The strips are about 18 inches wide and run from the front to the back of the trailer. Are your shackle bushing still tight? I was surprised at how well they wear for being just plastic.

B-10 Dave.
Holy deja'vu. Did the same this past spring to my trailer, but the thing that caught my eye is that my trailer could be a twin to yours in frame construction. Mine was purchased locally by my late father (from the maker) not far from my home town. Do you know where yours was made? Even the detail trim markings (paint stripes) are the same. And in my opinion they pull absolutely awsome!!!! Mine measures 86 inches wide and 192 inches long.(just enough that 16 foot lumber wouldn't work on the deck). Just a note, get off the Laker lager Red and switch to Carling Light, it makes you a lot smarter..Just talking from experience.LOL. Had a fellow approach me about buying two B-1 units, one has deck and blower, as well as a transmission problem (shifter keeps falling down) and the other has been re painted and comes with deck and front blade approx $1200.00 cdn, for the pair.(asking price) Deal or no Deal.
Hope this post displays properly as Ron Barcardi and I are in a private meeting
Respectfully Doug. Allis the girl for me.

Chris. Sometimes haul mulch so expanded metal no good for my application. Sounds like a slick idea though. Original bushings still there and tight. Amazing after 20 years. Doug, trailer came from North Carolina. Friend of mine comes from there but has lived in Can. for over thirty years. He goes down to pick up rust free car parts and buys a trailer there each time. Sells them here when he gets back. Gave me a really good deal on it in 1991. Deck is long enough to take full 16ft. lumber. Two B1's seems a little high. Two tractors, two decks blade and blower IMO $1000 tops. Also B1 should come with bolt together deck to be original. If blower is a three belt they can be a pain to set up right so it doesn't throw belts. Say hello to Mr. Bacardi. He never comes to my place but is a frequent visitor at my brothers. Dave. |

I know what you mean about hauling some things. I hauled dry horse manure on mine this fall and I laid down strips of 1/4 inch plywood.

Ground old welds off right side splash shield and fender area. Installed right shield and fender. Made up and installed rear bracket for ramps to attach to. Trailer is still sitting high on stands. Ramps will have less incline when it"s back on its wheels. Only fabrication work left is to make brackets to hold ramps. Dave
