i am about to find out if the cast iron blocks have interchangable parts. as far as i know, a 10hp block is the same as a 16hp block. both are megatron blocks just a different size bore. and different stroke. so you would think that it will work.

oops, sorry forgot, yes its a briggs.

i have been on ebay alot finding parts for this little project.

i found a gut that will bore .020 over and a valve job for around $60.00 i think thats fair.

any thoughts to this guys.

Wow, that's a tough one, I think the kohler 14 and 16 are the same, but the 10 and 12 are smaller, I think, I'm not sure on the briggs. I know the heads are going to be different

I'm thinking many parts may be the same, but i'm not positive. I bought a 16 HP briggs flywheel on ebay this spring, to replace the flywheel on my 10 hp briggs, which had some fins broken off. According to the parts books they both used the same flywheel. I think i paid $45 shipped for it, which is way better than getting a new one from briggs, which list for about $230!

Anyway, let us know what you find.

Wes

ATF;The 10 hp stands alone, different bore and stroke.12 and 14 are the same although later 14s had bigger valves. You can bore a 12 direct to 14.Can't bore to 16,you'll take out the whole cylinder.10,12,14=9 bolt head.16 is 10 bolt head, totally different!!

Thanks Sarge, I think I was thinking of Massey Ferguson tractor models, lol. Kohler made so many variations in those engines with heads, cranks, oil pans, and dip sticks, it was crazy
