As stated when I joined this site I am the proud owner of an Allis-Chalmers 608lt, and a Duetz-Allis 612.
Well, last fall my neighbour found me an A/C 608ltd for less than the cost of two cases of lager liquid wrench. Was actually looking for a mower deck for the 608lt but brought the whole unit home. Just for the H#ll of it I dropped the oil, cleaned the carb, blew out the gas tank, put in a new plug and gas, grabbed an old car battery and hit the starter, IT started!!!!!!Last week I got grill from Hyde Bros in Hensall, put it in place and that made the third unit in the stable.

The neighbour told me to check out a post on our local Kijiji site and I found a D/A 612 hydro, rear bagger, and lights,$240.00 dollars later it was in my yard as of Good Friday. Again a quick service later an it was touring around my yard. That makes the fourth unit in the stable.

Now,I know they are not the older yellow Allis tractors I see on here and drool, but at least they say Allis somewhere on the unit.

Is this a collection or an addiction?

Respectfully Doug.
Allis the girl for me.

P.S. Will post pics when all are out of storage.

Doug, an Allis is an Allis unless you are talking about the new 100 series Briggs is offering. I hate to break it to you but you probably already know it is an addiction. Hey, what are friends for? We anxiously await your pictures....please hurry I feel a craving coming on.

Addiction, prediction...what's in a word? As to what this affliction is....in a word....FUN!

I would refer to my collection of tractors and attachments, many currently non running, as an attempt for a greener planet by keeping them out of the land fills or rusting away under a tree in the woods.

They also serve as educational tools. They teach the history of this type of equipment, they allow me to teach neighbor kids of all ages how to work on and repair them, (basic mechanical skills), and also an opportunity to learn and teach such things as body work, paint prep, painting, etc.. Very educational tools indeed!

Just my small part for the benefit of the planet.

Simplelife.
I never thought of it that way, My Mrs is always thinking of ways to go GREEN and save the planet.

Therefore I SHOULD go forth and procure as many of these units as possible and save them from an untimely ending and let my grand children learn to get their hands dirty, pinch the odd finger, scrape a knuckle or two. This would make me an environmentalist.

Is this what you meant LOL. We could save the world!!!!!!AND I have the right to fill my shop with all kinds of Allis "stuff" with out being in the BAD BOOKS with the Mrs.

Could we get a goverment grant to procure these tractors as we would be saving the planet.

I REALLY like this train of thought. Does anybody else see it this way?

Respectfully Doug.

There should be a way to do that. We'll have to have Roy ask his good buddy and neighbor, Al Gore, how much we can count on.

ROTFLOL

I think we need to keep these around as artifacts from the American industrial age. I think I am going to get Daniel to make up a bunch of labels like this to put on our tractors to show people what we were once capable of.

You need to go find the Lifeboy and wash your mouth out with soap.
