Well thanks to josh and his very nice restore ive got the bug. so ive started the tear down and started and blasting parts. got the grill painted figured ide finish one pc and wrap it up till all parts are done then start reassembling it
this last pc is a little rough on the bottom and has a couple holes i found after cleaning it i might try to save it if i cant find a good one

I didn't see it mentioned anywhere in your post so I thought I would throw it out there. A near identical match to the orange color is Duplicolor DE1607 Chevy Engine Enamel. It is now available in a ceramic enamel. Your paint should also be enamel and can be clear coated (after a light wet sanding with 600 grit 3M abrasive paper)with Clear ceramic engine enamel or any clear enamel. This is what I used and it dries SO hard that will chip before scratching. Very, VERY hard.

I have a hard time waiting. It would be satisfying to have a full restore but I dont have any tractors worth restoring that really need it.
Reading through the solvents on the Simplicity Deep Orange, half of them look like they are from laquer, half from enamel, it dries like laquer but is nothing like as hard as any laquer I've ever sprayed after a couple hours. I have some clear coat for enamel I'm going to try on it. Something else about that deep orange, for at least the first couple days, gasoline will take it right off. :( |

yup tell me about it .i figured ide be rebuilding the motor by know . the tractors at the shop an hour and quarter away so i only get to work on at night when im there to far to go from the job sites . but on the flip side it gives me time to find the right parts and hardware i want to change instead of rushing thru it . i usually clean a bunch of pcs and prime them and leave them till next morning then the bosses son who also has this passion as a hobby now  takes them down from drying and carefully puts them out of harms way till the next time i get there . so yup its long and drawn out but im happy with the results sofar |

I have used the Simplicity deep orange on a mower deck and my 2010 so far. At first it is very soft, but hardens after several weeks. The mower deck is off my Late model Sovereign, and I scraped the right side for the first time the other day and I figured on a big swath of paint gone but there wasn't.
