This will be fun to watch Rob! I kept my original side panel because of the dealer tag, amd the replacement made it through sandblasting and paint...then...I dropped it on the ground and a chunk of rust fell out of the corner, now I have a hole. =[

Good luck, we'll be watching!

i sand blasted all the pcs to bare metal fixed and filled any imperfections with a combo of spot putty or solder pending on how bad it was or if i had pin holes to fill so far i havent had to weld any then a good coat of primer sanded with 320grit then paint

Hmmm...I wondered what you did to fill in. I have a straight hood I was going to use on my Squire, but it has one big ol gouge in the center of it. I may give one of your methods a try after it gets blasted. Thanks!

Yes sir! You're rolling now =] The toughest part is finding the TIME to knock all the pieces out. Keep at her, you'll be a proud papa here pretty soon!

Very nice. If you don't mind me asking how much was the Simplicity paint? Just wondering how much more expensive it is than what I used on my Broadmoor. And since I have a resto job coming up it might be nice to use the Simplicity paint this time...

That's not terrible. I'd love to hear how fast it dries, and how durable it is. I have yet to find a rattle can paint that resists scratching and flaking. Seems once a nick or scratch gets in the paint, they start to let go. I've tried various primers, and so far, a self-etcher seems best, but still i wish it was harder paint.

well as for drying i think it comes out of the can dry no really its fast i think by time i clean up and put the can down i can touch it as for toughness not sure yet im trying to find out what type of paint this is so i can clear coat it with out lifting the orange
