you got never claimed to be perfect, and never will. i run the beads 90 degrees to each other to build a grain into the alum for a stronger build up.
but any who. THANKS GUYS. |

Posted - 10/12/2011 : 10:56:56 I think he’s trying to say the end is not parallel with the shaft. From what I see it doesn’t matter. Form fit & function! Damn fine job of welding if you ask me. There are not too many professional shops that would even attempt that type of build up. Good job! |

Posted - 10/11/2011 : 21:11:30 Your father was a smart man. Anything that makes the job easier usually saves time. Time is money. Smart man and nice job. My father was a welder by trade and your absolutely right aluminum is not easy to weld. |

You done went & insulted him....was supposed to look like Crappie scales!
we call it a roll of dimes. thanks guy's it just came easy for me to learn. lucky i guess yes the piece was missing so i had to build it all up. running the beads one way and then crossing back over them to make it stronger. kinda like plywood. lapping the beads. thats a copper rod in the center to keep the hole open. after welding when its good and hot i take ice and cool the copper to shrink it and pull out the copper. |

Posted - 10/10/2011 : 22:24:12 Looks great Freddie. Took some serious global warming to heat that up. Probably stronger than new also. Low quality cast aluminum can be very porous and week.
