Here is a link to a good pic,,, you have to look a bit to find it,, it's called a "carrier", and you have to scroll down to find it,, but it's there.
http://www.jackssmallengines.com/Jacks-Parts-Lookup/Model-Diagram/SIMPLICITY/9375/1508
Simplicity has it messed up,, they call it an 11 INCH rotary mower instead of the 11 FOOT,,,just found it by accident.

I really don't want them, I NEED them! Those would cut my mowing down to about 2 hrs!

Great find, you lucky dog!

Glad someone was able to pick those up! They did sit on CL for a long, long time. Another set out in NJ was (or still may be) for sale, for a long time too. They are extremely scarce, and moreso with the hitch. Very cool that the serial #'s align like that! If they weren't so darn big and heavy, they'd be a great showpiece. Excellent for someone with a sprawling estate =]

Interestingly, and probably why they are so rare. They cost and weighed more than a top of the line 3212H with hydrolift in the '69/'70 price lists.

3212H/H - $1401, 773 lbs
2 Trailing mowers w/48" decks - $2104, 1296 lbs

I know this has been hashed over a couple times on other boards ,, but the weight thing is completely wrong,,somewhere it's been doubled,,,I'll buy 648# for both,, I can pick up either end of one of these easily. Found another interesting fact,, the decks are "509" decks,, specifically for the trailing mowers,, most everyone had thought these used normal tractor decks. The drive spindle is longer,, the pulley sets up higher than the others. I was checkin all the numbers,, decks are right,, engines are right (8 hp),, these are very early ones,,as they added extra cooling screens around the flywheel side,, mine doesn't have them, no provision for them either. Yes, they were expensive.

I would certainly like to see some more photos of these unity. Until now all I have seen is very grainy reproductions of advertising slicks. The trailing mower units are 990509; are the decks themselves marked 509 ?

Ok,, just found official publications,, The carriers (Both) cost $855 and weighed 481#,, the decks cost $197 ea and weighed 167# ea. So the cost $1249 and weighed 815# complete.
Yes Phil, which leads me to believe these were very early production, as you can find info that states you need to order (2) 575 decks,, but the only reference to 509 decks, is trailing mowers only.

Unfortunately the 990575 is an ordinary 42" mower. 990576 is 48" but apparently nothing special. Love to see some detail photos.

I agree, most info is confusing at best,, I'd just like to know actual production numbers. later, I'll get some pics of # plates
PS there is reference to a pulley spacer kit for the 575 decks, along with a belt guide/stop. And the reference to 575 decks (42") X 2 + 48" on the tractor = 11' that the newer info reflects

I was thinking all at 48" and a 6" overlap to prevent uncut strips on turns.

Who knows, lol, just found this http://www.simpletractors.com/simplicity/price_lists/1969_prices_pg1.htm if you look down at 509,, it references the 576 decks (48"). I'm trying to talk our old dealer out of some of his old catalogs where I found the info I've got. He guards them like a hawk, lol I may just take the camera in and try taking some pics. Still can't find anything on the model #990475 that is on both frames.

576 was a double V-belt drive deck. I'm guessing the trailing setup is not, or is it? Since the trailing mower option were post '67 price list, but present in the '69 price list (pre-double v-belt), I would think they would reference a 414 or 502 deck, not the 576 deck.

I'll hve to put some of my old catalogs to work...and I'd like to see if I have a '68 price list. Curious when thse appeared.

Got my hitch all rebuilt

And, I also found out why there are NO hitches in existence, my wife just happened to be video taping as I was playing,,,, lesson #1, No sharp high gear turns !!! I just wanted to see how they tracked,, it's to wet to mow, otherwise I would of had them running.

Yes Sir !!!
And this little episode explains a lot, both mower deck mounts were twisted (before this) and it probably explains the gas tank and flywheel cover having been replaced on the one engine too,,plus the hitch was all messed up.
