| I'd say you were providing full disclosure on that picture! I am sure someone with good eyes may have questioned that toyota in one of the pictures. I got to go work my fleet shortly. |

| I've n ever done a ful;l lineup of all my tractors, and may never. Would take me forever to do. Some have no batteries, others buried behind "stuff", and then some may not wanna run. One of these days I may just have to attempt it! |

HAHA, I cant do more than 10 at once. I was about to say this is the old half, but more like the old third!!!
There are another 7-8 running and 10 not running or parts machines.
But this is the best of my old Briggs powered GT's. |

| just a question on one of the years of tractor cause i like to learn. your oldest is a '63 flip hood tractor and here i thought they started the round hoods in '63, and the last flip hood 700's was last made in '62? thats my question. but yes i love the line up congrats on such a nice bunch of simplicitys. |

As far as I know, the 725 was made in 63 only, and was proceeded by thw 700 which I think Simplicity made from 1958 to 1962, and was a 7 horse version of the 7.25 horse 725.
The first roundhood Landlord was the "9 HP Landlord" and came out in 1964. It had a black console and grill, and a 9 horse engine of course. I think the 64 also had different steering gear and draglink.
The 9 hp Landlord was replaced with the 10 hp Landlord 101 in 1965, which is identical to the 1966 Landlord 2010 except decals. They had wider seat pans too. (those sold as Allis machines kept the narrow seat pan) The Landlord 2012 had wide front tires and a newly "Syncro Balanced" 12 horse engine. And had "Syncro Balanced" decals on both sides of the console. And was the last roundhood. |

The way I understand it, the 700 series was made from '59-'63. The Wonderboy 700 first appeared in brochures for the '59 model year, though I'm not aware of any Wonderboy's with a '59 or earlier Briggs still in it. My WB Briggs is dated early 1960. The WB went away shortly thereafter, and 700's (wiht no 'Wonderboy') were made through '61, until around the time the B-1 also began selling. The model 725 shows up in the '62 and '63 catalogs. The later versions had the Landlord type seat, while the early ones had the 2-piece white seat (among other small differences).
I wasn't aware of a differnet seat pan between AC and Simplicity round hoods...never noticed them being different, but now I'll have to keep my eyes open for it. There are a boat load of small differences between the '64's and the later round hoods. Spindles, steering clutch/brake components, different welds, etc. When looking at them side by side, and torn down, it's neat to see all the changes they made. |

Once you have seen the seat pans it jumps right out at you. The Landlord scoop seat is wider than the Allis seat with armrests.
I'm unsure on pre 1964 Simplicity dates, but the 725's 19D Briggs, according to my information went into production in April of 1963, so it couldn't have come out in 62.... ???

I misunderstood the seat info...I thought by seat pan, you meant the pan itself, under the seat. My toosh actually prefers the Simplicity scoop seat. The armrests on the AC's always seem to get in the way, and are a tighter squeeze. |

Uh... well. I have always believed the 700 was named after the 7 horse model 19, and when Briggs came out with the new 7.25 hp model 19D, Simplicity changed the model number to reflect the increased horsepower. Of cours 1/4 hp was a big deal 50 years ago. Outside of the seats and the medallions on the sides of the hood, I dont know of any other differences between the 700 and 725.
Sorry if I was unclear. I did mean the seat pan under the seat. It is narrower, and the same on the 700, 725, B-1, Big Ten and I dont know about the late B-10 & B-12.
I find the armrests on the Allis versions to be narrow for my 250 pound frame, and I like being able to slide off the edge of the Landlords seat to maintain better balance across slopes.
Course the seats and chrome grill on the Allis version are COOL. :) |
