My daughter and I have been replacing door units at a private school and have been blessed with reasonably comfortable temps for working out side. We are at least working in the shade if the heat returns before we are done. We got four units changed out today and the temps were in the 70's and low 80's.

Original frames were wooden 4 9/16" and we had to fir out wall to accept 6 3/4" steel frames to allow for cleaner sweeping of door without hitting the brick veneer.

It has been raining here almost every afternoon and has rained most of the day with only about 5/8" in the gauge.

Daniel, if you were to print this photo out you could probably squeeze out enough to water the corn. I am sorry you are having such a time with the weather. Hasn't been long since you were faced with the same weather issues.

Phil

It belongs to a friend who wants me to work on it. Has a PTO problem

Funny thing, this "Shaft drive" tractor has a belt from the engine to the PTO, then a belt from the PTO to a rear gear box, then two more to the rear tiller for 4 belts for the roto-tiller compared to just one for an equivilant 80's Simplicity Sovereign. The mower deck and snowblower have a shaft to the PTO, but the mower deck is such a pain to put on he prefers a push mower. The single stage snowthrower isn't bad though.

You m ay notice the only "yellow" out front is my air caddy! :)

I thought the only belt driven Cadets were the originals and the MTD ones

They are shaft drive to the transmission, and have a friction plate clutch (on std tranny's) but they have plenty of belts. The hydros are shaft drive right to the pump.

So far as I can see, only the mower deck (which has a belt internally) and the snowblower are shaft drive. But since the PTO is belt driven whats the point? Shafts, joints and couplings are wicked expensive. Makes OEM Simplicity belts look CHEAP!!!

I would get you some pictures but just looking at it is bad enough. Has castg iron grill and axle beam but 5/8 spindles with sleeve bearings. I was shocked when I saw there weren't a pair of tapered roller bearings.

And to get at that PTO clutch on the front of the engine you unbolt the hood and grill first....

Dry as a popcorn fart up here too. Watering the garden so it stays growing and the flowers but let the lawn go. Actually mowed the "weeds" (lawn) last night for the 1st time in almost a month which is unheard of here in WNY. We are very thankful for a pool and central air.
