It turned out to be 15' x 45' with 5 40' rows. Got long rows of sweet basil and carrotts, 4 strawberry plants, 4 tomato plants, 4 sweet pepper plants (green and red), 6 summer squash, 2 zuchinni, 2 chives, 1 catnip, and of course half of the garden is sweet corn. I have plans for a reflux still so it wont go to waste. If it wont run my tractors it'll fuel some party's!
It is still early to plant here, just 3 days since the last hard frost here. (global warming???) Memorial day is considered the safe time to plant sensitive plants here. But the forecast is fair and it was a perfect afternoon for it - 65 degrees and a light breeze.
I am going to take the blades off one side of my roto-tiller and hope to do moat of the weeding with it. I did the rows 30" on center which seemed wide at first, but got narrow quick.
I'm hoping to get some help from nature watering this week, but if not I guess I can run a garden hose just fine!!!

Looking nice. Nice looking lome. Your garden is 50% larger than mine with lots of room to maneuver. |

Yeh, I made it larger than necassary because I could. I'm hoping to use a machine to keep it weeded for 6 weeks or so. The loam is nice. My leachfield runs right along it and is large because of high water table. There is a spring fed bog on the other side of the shed and I'm hoping I wont have to water too much. We'll see. The soil looks better than I expected for year one. |
