Phil. The BGB has 0 play. The steering only has about 2" of play in the wheel.
This is one that was sold new through my fathers dealership.
The front tires are Wards brand. Is that the original front tire on a B1?

Very cool! I've been waiting patiently for just such a B-1. Something nice and original to keep that way. You really did well...that's great.

I think the OEM tire for a B-1 was the same as the Simplicity's...first Schenuit's then Goodyear. What's on the back? Those appear to be original Goodyear's. It's always possible the fronts were Wards, but Wards was probably a popular place to buy replacement tires back then as well. It would be strange that they would mismatch the brands from the factory.

That tractor looks about the same as our old B1 did the last time I saw it some 38 years ago except that it has to stamped mower shell. If It were mine I too would be tempted to leave it as is. Does the tractor have a dealer tag on it?

What a bargain! It even has that little piece of tin that is typically gone over the points cover!

Talnted. It has the original style goodyears on the back.

Phil. Unfortunately, the dealer decal is long gone. I really wish it was still there.
The PO was the original owner and my father knew he so atleast I know I have an early piece of his dealership. I am going to look around locally to see if I can find what his dealer decals looked like and replicate them if I can find one so I can install it back on this tractor.

I rubbed some buffing compound on the hood this morning to see what the paint really looked like and WOW, this thing is really going to look good cleaned up. I was really amazed at how brilliant the paint is under the oxidation and tree sap.
When I find the time, I am going to rub the paint out and put a reproduction decal set on it.

Was your dad's dealership a full agri dealership? What was the name of it? I know, so many questions.

Yes , he was a full line Allis, Oliver and Hesston dealer. It was originally named Cordis implement until the owner passed away. My father was the counter man and him and another counterman bought the dealership from the widow and renamed it Guthrie Farm Equipment.
It was still Cordis Impliment when the B1 was sold.

I may have visited that dealership in the mid 60's with my dad on the way from OKC to Lucas Kansas the site of his boy hood home. Seems there was a combine out there that had not yet made it to Louisiana. I remember him making some disparaging remark about the Olivers. We did not have any mixed species dealers in his territory.

Neat story. I know it takes time, but I can't wait to see that beauty polished up. Nothing finer than a nice original!
