Just picked up this plow today and just had to try it out lol. It's missing the lift rod and remote angle rod but I bent a lift rod out of threaded rod temporarily.

Excellent!! That's a great lookin machine. (and it's blinkin at me!) =]
Looks like a FDT 46" dozer with a rewelded lift bracket to accomodate the RBT nose. Cool. Someone made kept it in business! |

Thanks because of this one RBTs are starting to grow on me lol. And yes someone tipped the lift mount forward thus making it clear the hood and frame. |

| Finish setting that blade up with a spring loaded lift rod and the adjustment handle, put weights, chains and power lift on the tractor, and that RBT will not only continue to grow on you, it will amaze you. Rear lift and counterweight makes a very nice accessory for the blade too. |

| When plowing with the hydro, and even driving in general, how much are you using the brake vs. manually controlling forward and reverse through the hydrostatic controls? Is there a transition method that is best for the transmission? |

I'd say I use the brake maybe 25% of the time. You really can't beat a hydro I haven't had any problems what so ever with this Sunstrand or with the Vickers on my HB112. I personally like the Vickers a lot more just seems more well built and is a little smoother to me. When I got the HB112 the brake/clutch pedal was seized up and honestly I used it that way for a while. It's just as easy to move the hydro lever to neutral to stop as it is to declutch. |

Larry I have chains but its off to the drawling board and welder to make the rod and handle. As far as power lift on this tractor I think eventually I'll try and add a hydrolift powered off of the sunstrand. I already have the lift cylinder and valve that I stole off a different breed of tractor lol. |

I think it would be awesome to tap the Sundstrand and hook a valve assembly from an old hydrolift to a new hydraulic cylinder and have a float function.
The only time I use the clutch/brake on my hydros is when starting the engine to make life easier for the starter, and in an emergency stop, like when a branch snags my shirt, etc. Other than that I use the hydro for all speed changes/reverses |

Seriously, my foot never touches mine. You need to be careful to not use it as a "clutch" because it isn't one. Engaging and disengaging slowly to gently start the tractor moving is not good on the hydro. You can do like Larry does and step on it while cranking the engine to reduce load on the starter, but otherwise I've never found any need for it. |
