| today while i was blowing of the driveway my spark plug popped out again, after i put it back in it was making loud poppin noises and my dad thought maybe theres a bad piston any body know what it might be,or if its a serous problem,thanks nick |

Yep, when the spark plug pops out it is a bad thing. Possibly something got into the cylinder chamber ? or the plug is damaged ?
You'll need to pull the head off to take a look see at the cylinder, and then you'll also need to assess the head as to why the plug is popping out. |

| The popping is probably related to he loss of seal around the plug. I recommend a new head or helicoil for the old plug hole. Running an engine with a loose plug will hammer the threads in the head and eventually wear them out and blow the plug. |

| You can purchase head gaskets online from Briggs and other parts dealers. All you need is the numbers off the engine and a credit card. |

Yes, I was expecting that. And no, I did not lose my head several years ago, it was much longer ago than that....

| Where in New York are you? I believe I have a 10HP head from a parts engine left over. And as far as the model number goes if you have a white bar of soap or something white that will rub off rub it over the numbers and it usually makes them stand out and easy to read. |

| lake George,but it think i could just re tap the head if i could find a gasket kinda made a guess on the numbers i couldn't see but no luck i have been having trouble with the model#look up on the Briggs site |

| What are the numbers as appears on the side of your engine? If you have the proper number the lookup should be pretty trouble free. BTW it is possible to reuse the gasket is it is not damaged but it is good to have a new gasket just in case and you can save the old gasket for the next time you take the head off for cleaning. Be sure to use the proper torquing sequence when replacing the head as per your manual. |
