I love my foot draggers, BIG TEN and LL2010 especially, but after minuites on the seat of my 74 Sovereign, I know I'll never be truly at home on anything else. After 36 years running/maintaing it, well, She's home. LOL. Going to try some video mowing steep slopes with inches of clearance, something I wouldn't dare try without the control the Vickers Hydro provides.

Pics from last August.

I have to agree. I think those sovereigns are the best all around tractor that Simplicity made.
I'm still not sure that I did the right thing giving mine to the Son in-law.

I think when my collection is weeded out, it will consist of round hoods and Sovereigns.

If your Son-in-law appreciates your Sovereign and takes care of it then IMO you did the right thing, if not, well, ... we need to form a posse.

Thankfully he is very appreciative of the Sovereign. My 7117 just seems bulky compared to it. Someday the right Sovereign will come along and I will own it.

I really like my Baron with the running boards also. It is certainly a lot easier for me to get on and off and with the new tri rib tires the steering is just about as easy as my b112. If I could find a nice b10 with straight 3 speed I would be saying Goodby to Bugsy at the batt of an eye but I think I will still be using the 3414 when I can no longer lift my short legs up over the shifter tunnel on a foot dragged.

I like my 7112H cause it's tight enough to put the dirt blade on and POUND it, (BIG TEN is too) and thats something the Sundstrand hydro excels at. I dont like the higher running boards, longer wheel base and boxy hood though. The 3300 through 7000 frame will always be my favorite.

A B10 and a 3400 compliment each other well. At 6'6" I step right over my BIG TEN, but with a mower deck on have to kind of climb on my 3400.

Is there any truth to the fact that the 900's/7100's are longer and dont turn as sharp as the 700's/3400's? I have heard that before, but I like the looks of the 900's.

Larry, we gotta either find you some B series Guide lights to put on your Sovereign or the original side lights. (I never liked those side lights but dont mind the later models with the square lights up in the grille.....its just a personal thing)

The 7100 series was lengthened 2 plus inches to accomodate twins, the hood was also made taller and straighter, and vents in the front.

I have the original lights in a box. We had 3200 series Landlord lights from the dealer (what your calling "B"'s and they fared no better, I traded them to snohiker last year. These Grote'a work great, easy to replace, and fold back when hit. As they say, "You can have them when you pry them from my COLD DEAD FINGERS!!"

The guides are flat out sexy...got that '60's look goin on! But hey, you use what works, ya know? On my B110, I do like that fact that I can bump stuff, and I often do when pushing snow, and they just swivel away.

You guys both make an interesting point about the lights swinging out of the way when bumped!
