PO said head gasket blown and needs carb rebuilt, have it running nice, fuel problem was bad fuel and clogged outlet on tank, not carburater. Also said it was repowered with a 14, but the engine number is 243431 0123-01, and the bore measures 3.063 so it's a 10, maybe even the right engine for it.
Got to ride a footdragger for the first time at dusk, everything works well and it's charging at 10 amps
I like it.

Larry, what were they using for a starter switch? Solenoid? |

PO converted it to 12 volt coil ignition and put in a new ignition switch when he did. He said the repower engine had a Magnetron conversion but he stuck with the 12 volt coil. PO gave me the original push button starter switch and the on-off key switch.
Whatever the case the spark plug lead from the magneto is wire tied to a bolt. If it has been converted then that lead should have spark and I'll probably go back to magneto ignition. I haven't traced down exactly what he did but there must be a solenoid somewhere.
Whatever the case, since I have the pushbutton in good shape I am going to go back to it, extremely reliable and fills the hole in the dashboard. |

Larry. Original engine would have been yellow like the B1's and early B10's. Didn't go black till B12 and B10 Bumblebee models. Dave. Didn"t read your other post with more engine info before I replied to this one. It would be same engine as late B10. Repaint will take care of differences. |

Dang Larry, take that machine inside to work on it. I don't take much stock in what PO says, most either haven't a clue, or lie. That fact is born out when I get a closer look at the tractor, as you have found out also. |

If he is not using the HD push button than where is the solenoid located? Behind the firewall? Surely he did not run the full starter amperage through the key switch. I suppose the coil is there also. I have a 12 volt ignition system on my B112 but retained the push button. I have a battery type key switch with starter circuit but don't use the starter circuit. |

Yes, obviously the 6 gauge battery cable going to the starter isn't attached to a spade connector on the ignition switch, the solenoid is mounted behind the battery. The coil is mounted directly under the front of the gas tank. |

I've seen it attempted.... you just never know what you will find. |

He took the cables off the push button, and put them on to the solenoid leaving the soldered factory terminal ends intact.
I checked the spark plug lead coming from the magneto, and it has spark. Since the points are connected to the 12 volt coil, and there is no external ignition conversion module, it does in fact have a Magnetron conversion also. |
