Picked this snow blade up a while back, I just couldn't pass it up for $50. It looks like a nice heavy duty unit untill you set it next to a Simplicity dozer blade... Rob, AKA snohiker welded up the brackets and I drilled the holes and set it up this afternoon. I don't see where I will need downpressure (hope) so I made a lift cable out of 3/16 stainless steel wire rope. It lifts easy. The lift bracket on the plow clears the tire about the same as the OEM drag link clears on the other side, if the axle is tipped enough it will rub. I set it up so the skid pads are level, but it looks like the blade is tipped back. I dont know if Bolens intended that or not. The angle on the scraper looks the same as my Simplicity blade. Since it's a spring trip blade, I can put some oak blocks in the stops to tip the blade forward if needed. However, I think this blade and hitch might have a future as a center mount grader.

Larry. Change your Crosby clips at the plow end of the cable to the other way around. Two at the other end are correct. Rule of thumb with these clamps is "never saddle a dead horse". Saddle of clamp always goes on the pulling or live part of cable. B10Dave. |
Money can't buy you happiness. It can however buy you a beer. And that is close enough.

Jeez, someone recognizes genuine crosby clips!
Thanks for pointing that out. Dont know what I was thinking. The plow is going on my 7112, not the 7013 shown. and the cable has to be lengthened 2" then. I will be sure to get it right! |

And you didn't use a rod why? for a grader Blade you'll have to slice across the middle horizontally unless you jack the tractor up, make two of them, send me one. |

I didn't use a rod because the blade needs to be able to float and ride up, my 2 lift rods with 12" springs that allow this are well spoken for.
Thats right, makes two of them, glad to part with the top half, but I get the HITCH!!!
I had the cable and clamps, and if I get it right, It will work on BOTH my 7100 and 7000.
OR: I get 60" rears and 40" front tires and use it whole... |

I knew you were going to tempt me with big tires, I think my rod that I bent was way cheaper than a cable and clamps, but you had those already. Sorry, having a hard time keeping up, I haven't slept 8 hours since last Monday, pain in my ear after the explosion. You ever look at your hotmail messages? |

Actually the wire rope is available at Home Depot by the foot for $0.41/ft. A straight rod wont work for my application, it would just bend. |

looks good larry, i bet you can't wait for snow now. two tractors with plows, one as a back up. good idea. you might want to go with skinner tires up front as they have more bite then the wide tires. |

Actually, The Bolens plow is going on the 7112H in place of the dirt blade, the 7013S it's on now is getting put up for the winter, and my main snow remover is my 3416H with a 42" blower, which is still mowing. |

As long as it isn't real windy, I love blowing snow. |

I'd rig up a cab from a walk behind blower if I could find one. Wanted to build one earlier this year, maybe next. In February a craftsmen cab would look good. At least JD is a tractor company. |
