I spotted this John Deere 110 tractor about 3 years back in one of my old friends' yard. I'd have to ask him about it the next time I saw him. I figured I wouldn't have any trouble getting it as it looked like it'd been parked for quite some time and he lived on a dead end street where nobody else would be bothering him about it. Months and months went by and I finally ran into him at a parade. I asked him about it and he says, "Oh I gave that to Denny's kid". I told him about my JD 140 and got talking about his and he told me he bought it new back in 1972 along with a model 39 deck, a 31 tiller, 50 dump trailer, 42 plow, wheel weights, chains and optional headlights. I was really grumbling after that conversation. He GAVE it AWAY. Well, day before yesterday I'm cruising Craigslist and there's a JD110 advertised in the next town over for a real decent price. I Googled the telephone number and guess who? Denny's kid!! I didn't waste any time calling the number but no answer. Dang! It'd been in Craigslist over an hour at the time and you all know how that goes, by the time you call on something hot they're already in the yard helping the next owner load it up. I emailed him just in case and told him if nobody had taken it he would have no problem with me taking it off his hands. No response. I figured it was gone. Oh well. Then late yesterday afternoon the phone rings and it's the guy with the tractor. He told me his battery went dead in his phone and didn't even know he had messages until he charged it. With the price he had in there I can only imagine why his battery went dead. He said he had many, many calls on it and even some guy that pretended like they'd already done the deal and just needed his address again so he could come right over. SNEAKY!! We got talking and he told me he needed to clean up his yard some and this had so many attachments he thought this would alleviate some of his problems. We made arrangements for me to pick it up. He said he hadn't had it running in quite some time and had no idea what shape it was in now but thought it should be OK with a little work. No problem. I got it home yesterday and gave it a pretty thorough cleaning and hooked up a battery charger, wiggled some wires around and it chugged to life. It runs excellent and no smoke or anything, all gears work and I had to cruise the yard with it for awhile to steam off that water after the wash job it got. haha It has flat front tires and the front grill is missing along with a partially broken headlight panel but all in all an excellent restoration project for next year.

Pictures? I didn't think you guys would be interested enough to see pictures of green and yellow stuff. Unfortunately I have no way of sending pictures, been through this drill before. Eventually I'll find my camera and send some but for now I'm thinking it will be Christmas time as the wife I'm sure packed it away with the Christmas stuff. And as for price I thought I already included that..??? Isn't "real decent price" good enough?

It is very rare to give small amounts of the green for something painted green! Well done sir. Sounds like a nice package.

I'm just lucky I got it eventually, even if I didn't get it for FREE like he did. I did get some paperwork with it too but I'll have to see the original owner and see if he's got more. The original owner is a super nice guy and I wouldn't mind fixing it up to like new condition again for him and just giving it back just to see the look on his face. I'm sure with all the parts that are sold on the internet it wouldn't be too difficult because it doesn't need much.
