I'm pretty sure I'm going to try and rig up my 11HP troybilt snowblower to my MTD 40" blower attachment
I usually forget to take before pictures on my projects and also figured maybe if I start a thread early it will motivate me more to get this project done before winter so this might be a good time to post the "before pictures"
I really hope the chutes are interchangeable because the blower body has a joystick style remote control for both the direction and the chute outlet flap that I'd really like to keep intact

| I forgot to say the blower was only $100 because the previous owner blew the front worm gear and then threw out the augers when he decided not to pay the price they wanted for new gears..so the front part is completely empty except for the impeller shaft is still there and the blower attachment was traded for small tiller that only cost me $40 |

started this today in between other projects and it looks like it going to be super easy...the troybilt snowblower seems to be manufactured by MTD (so much for quality now) ..after stripping down all the unnecessary parts from the 40" attachments its obvious that I'll even be able to use the troybilt chute which is awesome because I like the single joystick controls for the direction and chute angle
it looks like all I have to do is grind off a few tack welds and carefully mount the housing rails from the red bucket to the black one...and theres holes in both that look like they will make it easy to weld in the correct place
the auger belt engagement lever mounts on a bolt and the black housing already has the hole pre-drilled at the factory
then I just have to measure up and buy a new belt...the larger auger has a slightly smaller pulley which I will use because I figure more impeller speed will be good |

today I removed the mounts and welded them to the black bucket...everything fits perfect and I was able to line up all the remote controls for the chute
its not as big looking as I expected but should do the job real quick on those occasions where there's not enough snow to justify using the truck plow
the only thing left is to remove a spacer on the drive shaft and re-shim the pulley due to the new augers pulley being set just a little deeper
I will post a picture when it's done because I know you're all just loaded with interest on this project |

| Usually not enough snow down here to use a blower. Never used one myself. Interesting project though. Good that everything lines up as well as it does. I like that spring worm auger rotation mechanism. Most I've seen use a cable. |

| It sure is a good feeling when a project like this comes together faster than expected huh?! I am looking forward to the pics, never used a blower myself. Always wanted to try though. |

up here just about everyone owns snowblowers or snowplows
the only ones that I've ever seen with a cable was an old 1967 simplicity one I used to have..was in great shape ..I gave it to an uncle who still uses it at his camp
the spring thing you see on the black auger house was removed and now the chute turns with the left joystick on the blower..tilt it left or right and the chute turns...tilt it front or back and it adjusts the little top flap..its hard to see in the picture because I had diconnected the cables..the mechanism is upside down sitting over the motor and the mounting point is hidden behind the muffler...pretty neat idea they had with that
I was kind of surprised no commented about my lawn  |

now I'm thinking of boosting it even more by adding rubber flaps to the impeller blades so it throws even better...I seen some youtube videos where it really improved the amount and distance of the snow output...
anyone ever tried this?

farther doesnt really help me...the lots here are only 50 feet wide
Im hoping the rubber will help when the snow is slushy...but I ve put that on hold and switched into a few storage/shed building projects...I picked up a 53' transport trailer and have been busy trying to get my junk stored away before the snow comes..tearing down and rebuilding a tool shed too while trying not to cripple my back any worse |

| I found another same attachment and have a good 10hp blower with a rotten bucket so I think Ill be making a second one ...so many people liked my idea when they seen it that I figure the second one will be an easy sell |
