I got too busy to do a lot of ebay buying/selling, but found one of ebay's latest policy's interesting. As of January 15th, 2009, ebay is restricting sellers from advertising that they will accept Money Orders. It is only a censorism on their site and I presume it's legal because you have a choice of going on eBay or not. It's their playground they need to maintain.

I'm guessing their motive is to promote Paypal. Though, you get fees up the you know what as is. Listing fees, sales fees, and now they're trying to get that 4% credit/guarrenteed payment fee. Ouch.

I've noticed some sellers are rallying to use key terms to indicate and communicate sellers will accept all forms of payment.

Just thought fellow tractor fans should know and may want to comment.

I actually prefer PayPal because it's double the insurance for the transaction on both the seller and buyers parts. Yes, the fees all suck, but in the long run, it all comes out in the wash. I did get burned recently on ebay motors though and I called them on their policy and they DID refund my seller fees on two of three items that I had listed. It seems if you sell a car, truck, atv, apv etc. you pay a flat 100 dollar final value fee. For an item over 2000 that's a great deal. But I had two items that sold for 500 and 300 respectfully and ebay took 1/3 of the final selling price on the 300 dollar ATV. Just a side note though....if you list an item that's in fully operational condition like the afore mentioned items, the representative I talked to told me...TOLD ME to list as a parts vehicle, then in the item description, inform potential bidders that the item is in perfect working order and is being listed as a parts vehicle because it "blows a fuse" every once in a while and will need attention to that detail before it's "road worthy." I thought it interesting that a representative of eBay would give me an "out" to avoid the high fees on a low dollar item in ebay motors. Just had to rant a little there.

I read somewhere that a seller had gotten suspended for stating that other payments were ok, but don't know how accurate that was. I have noticed in the last couple days a few have still been putting it in their ads, will have to see how that goes.I have not sold much on there lately, have done some selling in the past but the fees are getting a little steep! I would think they would want to stay competitive in a market that is seeing a little more competition abeit slowly. With the economy and the job market getting progressively worse more people will be making a living selling stuff, unfortunately it will be there living room furniture.
