 Wife and I were out the door this morning by 8AM and headed to Shelby Township, just a little NE of Detroit. Picked up a Squire9 and had a nice visit with PO Rick. This makes my second Squire from Mich. Don't know what would posess someone to paint it Ford blue and black but that will definitely be changed in the future. Stopped at Port Huron TSC store to check out their 23x10.50x12 ag tread tires at $109.99 each. They are HI RUN brand and made in of all places New Zealand. Didn't buy any today as I was worried about how much duty or tax I might have to pay at the border when I brought back the tractor as well. Tires look really good and I probably will get a set when we go to Fla. in March. Next stop was Harbor freight to look around. Ended up with a pair of over centre wheel chocks to put on my motorcycle trailer. They were on at 50% off so 2 cost me price of 1. two for $50 was too good to pass on and I got the last two in the store. Should have bought the tires. Got to the border and wasn't asked where from, how long away or any of the standard questions. Asked about the tractor [ not the price ] and waved us through when told about the $50 for the chocks. Good day had by Mrs. and me. Tractor safely home and in the shop. Wierd plow came with the Wards. Someone had an old walk behind beam and moldboard that they made a mount for. Pic isn't clear but there are 3 slots in the plate part to adjust angle and depth. Dave.

I sold a sled to a fella from Ontario a few years back, and he was pretty particular on the paperwork he wanted mr to sign. Bill of sale, etc, in order to avoid hassles crossing the border. |

Michael; it depends on the Customs and immigration agent at the border on our side. Sometimes they wave you through and sometimes send you to secondary. If I am over your side for 24 hrs. I am exempt for up to $400 of merchandise. Over a week and I can bring back $1000 tax and duty free. Usually they don't bother me when I bring back an old tractor but when I got a BigTen and a B10 from N.Y. a couple of years ago I had to pay $30 tax. Dave |

i know when I was working for my bro in law in WI this year if you had a trailer going across WI and IL line you had to pay more based on axles. So idk how it really works lol |

Haha...yeah, I highly doubt that. Dunno if they were even making rubber yet, and certainly wouldn't have been found on a machine made in the US of A. |

Rich; I agree that the plow probably pulled weird from the top link. Only brought it home because it was attached to the tractor. It is now the top item on my scrap pile as it really doesn't have any useful pieces.
Josh; the front tires are probably not stock unless Wards was using Cheng Shin tires in the 60's. Dave |

I'm pretty sure "Riverside" was a proprietary brand for Wards, that began with their scooter line, and continued into tires. They had tires for farm, auto, garden, bicycle, etc. |

Those Riverside rears must be a Wards "Signature", as i've only seen them on the Squires. |

Looks like a good straight tractor under the wrong paint! I would think the plow would pull funny hooked to the upper link, but I don't know. |

yep, they bite better then any lug tire out there. IMO we dont run anything else on are pullers. and i use them on my daily runner for mowing as well.

Glad that found a good home Dave! I betcha there have been almost a half dozen or so Squire 9 & 10's on the MI CL this year, all but one have been on the East side of the state. One of those things that a guy can search and search for, then after he's got it, they come out of the woodwork! =] I'd like to find me a '10' some day, to round out the bronze Squire series.
Plow is interesting for sure. I like the Riverside tires. As Freddie had mentioned at some point, they have an aggressive bite but provide a ncie footprint that doesn't ride rough or mess up the turf. I saved mine, and am in the process of gettin them on a set of refurbished rims. Curious what brand the saw style fronts are? I had identical tires on my Squire 9 and thought they were replacements. |
