Are you sure they aren't annual rye? Starts great anytime, lives a season and dies?

It's dormant in the winter and it's dormant in the summer. I been working in Southern Wisconsin this summer and it's dry here. I think the whole mid west is dry.

HA!

You want to see brown, just wait. Most of my lawn is perrenial rye grass. Very nice in the summer but dies at the end of October and is a dead brown from the end of November through the middle of April when it regrows from the roots.

Of course the ground here is usually snow covered from some time in November through the end of March. So it doesn't really matter.

Looks like my winter lawn. I've heard of Kentucky blue grass but not brown...

I still have a B-210 hydrolift, nice runner/worker, and I have a nice Allis built 312 and B-207E which both need batteries and minor tinkering, and a basket case B-110

And I have a pait of Allis built Homelite T-16's. One hydro, one shuttle

I have to concur with that. I know that when we bought our B1 in 1962 we cut our field that was once cultivated and full of broom grass. The first cutting was tough and subsequent cutting every week was a bone jarring experience. After about 3 seasons of cutting the field was smooth and level and was the lawn of choice for the neighborhood football an baseball games.

LOL, I would worry, BUT: every LAST one of these is not just a lttle better than when they joined, but a LOT BETTER!

I haven't any evidence of dis-content. No scalping or red "spotting" from the hydros at all.

If you look at the lawn, those scalp free stripes were clearly made by a contented machine. :)

Yeah...it would be fun, but it would be a full time job for me. I need to make time for oil changes, but the lack of grass to mow is allowing me to wait until it cools off. It will still take an entire evening =[
