I'm going to move this to Simplicity Tractor Talk so that solutions to problems are in that forum.

I've had a few leakers...some are stuck valves, and will drain your whole tank rather quickly, while others seemed to be the emulsion tube issue. I put a shut off on all of my machines, just so it's there if you get in a pinch. I only need to use it on 2 machines, and no amount of screwing around with the carb seems to correct the issue. Now, it's just 'On' and 'Off'...problem solved.

If yours didn't leak before, there's hope that something might be slightly prohibiting the float to work properly. I'd pull her apart and clean it, hit things with some air, and you might be all set.

A lot of these old Briggs will leak if no shut off valve is in the line. Some did it right from the factory. If its only a couple drips every few minutes then it's fine just remember to shut off the valve. But if it's running out fast then you definitely have a float problem. I gave up on getting some of mine to stop leaking no matter how much you mess with the floats some want to always leak. I have had luck with one by reseating the emulsion tube. This can be down by adding a nylon washer which someone will chime in the part number I'm sure. I lapped my emulsion tube in with valve grinding compound but the best fix is use the shut off valve.

Where are you in New York? I'm in Sullivan County. Would be willing to help out if you're close. Have plenty of carb parts and a couple carbs.

your float is stuck, turn off the gas.
