Most have been moaning about the lack of snow and while I must admit is creates some very beautiful scenery, I have not missed it, but I thought I would share these snow pics taken from last years deep and hard packed event we experienced. Note .. the small frame guys should find these interesting. I wanted to see just how much my 728 could handle and with a good dose of patience it complete the task.
It was deep enough and packed so hard that you had to raise the blower, move ahead a little and blow the top layer, then back up and lower the blower and move ahead again, otherwise it was like hitting a cement wall.

I heard something this morning about the biggest snowstorm in something like several decades? I've been out of touch. Does that pretty much chut things down out there for you folks? |

We got about 6 inches of snow over the last 2 days. This is very rare for us. It's already warming up and melting so I didn't even break out the tractor. |

I do hate seeing green take care of my drive. lol The problem still with that (I've thought about it) is my drive has sunken two tracks from where the cars drive and sink the stones, the so the edges and middle are raised. So I would still have to place it very carefully if the skis were on the outer edges because they could be low while the middle of the blower hits the raised the portion. If I made something that ran along the back of the blower I would probably be okay. Plus, I could always aim away from the house! heehee Oh well, for now I'll let pops get out on those days instead of me. I have taken care of everything so far this year so he needs to have an excuse for his own 'seat time', even if it is on a Deere!! |

You know Jon, you have enough tractors that you could probably setup a didciated blower machine, with fancy shoes/skis. Something that would keep the blower high enough to prevent grabbing stones, by giving it some floatation. Then you could buzz around real quick when finished with the grader to grab the inch or two that's left.
(Or you can just use the FEL) =] |

Nice work Josh, I believe for that storm my dad's JD 5105 with a fel was used, as my grader blade was no match for that stuff. Mike, absolutely love seeing the Broadmoor being used like that. Small machines but still so useful. |

I dont care to see those days again for a while! Believe it or not, our grass is still green in NY. I cant remember a winter this weird. Was 50 yesterday with 70+ mph winds last night and still very windy today but is in the upper 20's! They are calling for a few small lake effect snow showers for the week and back into the 40's for a nice stretch starting this weekend! I will take it! |

I remember that day vividly! The lil guy looks like a champ in the deep stuff. I'd like to see one in action.
Here, the clearing was done at home with the B110 and dozer. Getting started was tricky, but once I had some room chiseled out, I could take smal bites, and was done with the drive in about 45 minutes (Though my drive got a bit narrower).
No one could drive, so I ran the sled up the road to my Grandmother's place where I had a B112 with a blower. The snow was much deeper than the tractor was tall, so I would take a 6" swath across the drive, lift the blower up into the overhanging snow-shelf, and knock it down as I moved in reverse. Then I'd go forward to plow the fallen snow away. Basically, every 6-10" cut took two passes. Eventually, my banks was getting too tall for me to blow over!
