I fixed a Buddy up with this 310 back in the mid nineties. He had the motor rebuilt and I went through the tractor and hooked him up with a decent mower deck and tiller. It has been a very good workhorse for him for well over ten years now.
We brought it over to my shop yesterday and dressed it up for winter (if it ever arrives).

ahhh, so the holes in the 1" shaft are at different spots too.... weren't they so tricky...
I wonder if drilling holes in the lift would be easier... ahhh... heck...
the simplicity drawbars bolt right up to the 3/4's by just putting the existing
spacer on the other side... very nice fit / fix there
a sleeve outta 1/16" stock would probably work well.... |

Yes, I remember me and dad getting the tiller hooked up to the 410 for the first time back in the seventy's. The tiller had the 1" shaft and the holes didn't line up right with the inch and an eighth shaft. We just pushed it all the way in and he had me drill a new hole through the one inch shaft and we heated and bent the bottom hitch to make it fit. Used it that way for many years. I do think it was rough on the tiller though as we had to repair chains and bearings several times over the twenty or so years that we used it that way. Have not had to tear into that one nor the one that I mainly use now since using the correct hitch set ups. |

Mack, I have a question for you I bet you know the answer to.
you mentioned you put the rare 3/400 series rear 1" lift on back..
have you ever tried putting the standard 1" bar in the 1 1/8" lift sleeve?
Ive been converting all my drawbars to accommodate either lower width but I wondered if
cobbing a job by putting a simplicity 1" bar tiller in the 1 1/8" sleeve is really
too much slop.. |

Ya got me Chris. I swapped the original narrow tires to put tri-ribs on one of mine. But, I also swapped the original wider drawbar for the standard A/C-Simplicity and put the rare one inch diameter lift on it for him to accommodate the standard tiller. The blade, wheel weights, chains and counter weight are mine, and are on "loan" for the winter. I think once he has had a chance to move some snow with this setup he will be even more impressed with this machine. |

what they knew about building the big ones helped them build the little ones!!

Good looking tractor! Its still amazes me that these machines were built so well to stand the test of time. The stuff nowadays with more than double the horsepower will never last half as long! |
