Posted - 10/06/2011 : 22:10:29 Well, we've had a rough go of things lately, and decided tonite we were gonna pick up some cider and work to put away the garden. I think the 'Cider' (+rum) helped get my wife outdoors to take part in the action. Pulled the remaining plants and pulled the plow to open up a bit more ground. Pushed off the sod piles with the dozer and got the tiller hooked up.
I didn't get much action recoreded until sunset since my phone was dead earlier, but here's what we got...
She got the full run-down on how to operate the B110, with all it's current quirks, and even got the HiLo figured out. I was like a dream in the end...me sittin in the dewy grass with the dog, sippin spiked cider and watchin my Princess get all dusty on the Allis.
Great nite...tomorrow, back to reality, but at least we got a tiny break!

Thats why I found a moldboard. New gardens beats heck out of tractors here even farm tractors with 3pth & commercial roto-tillers. Actually, new gardes are tough period.

Posted - 10/07/2011 : 08:48:12 Yeah...this side of michigan is very sandy. Makes for great well water, and easy tilling! On the other hand, I need to water a lot to keep things moist. Our soil drains very quickly. The garden is like flour after a tilling. That's why I like the cultivator during the growing season. It keeps the crust and weeds away without 'fluffing' the soil so much...plus it's much quicker (can be good or bad) =]
We have a few rocks, but I've 'found' most of them by now...they sound crazy going through that tiller. I cannot imagine what it must sound like in a rocky soil! |

Posted - 10/07/2011 : 08:39:59 Thats nice, you must not have much for rocks there. When we got my 3416H back in 75 we did an acre garden with the 36" tiller, and the sandy rock free soil we had there came out looking like a sandtrap at a golfcourse, here, on the other hand roto tilling is kind of like riding a bucking bronco.... |

Posted - 10/06/2011 : 22:36:07 A bit shy, yes. We'll get past that now that we've figured out the starting, clutch, shifting, HiLo and hydrolift. Kicking the tiller on and off was easy enough, so pretty soon we'll see a smile...maybe knock down some weeds, or Revitalize something while Papa sits and sips on something? =]
Of course, there's always leaves... |

Posted - 10/06/2011 : 22:32:18 That garden looks like carpet! Kinda looks like the wife is in the witness protection system, always hiding her face! Please tell me she ain't embarrased. |

Posted - 10/06/2011 : 22:22:15 I get a lot done, often, and take few pictures. Mother in the garden was a rare site. Even the dog watched.
The rum helped. |
