Used to just mulch them all in, but it really clogs and stunts the lawn come spring. Last year I found a sweeper I liked, and for half the price of the $300 wonder Home Depot had. My 3315V got promoted from the little trailer, and since this sweeper has a differential and drives off both wheels, it really screems going in around corners. But 3rd with the variable worked nice.
I still start with a good steel spring tine rake. Got a couple of blowers here somewhere... Still like the rake!
Unfortunately it only took 20 minuites each on the mower and sweeper, have to slow this down somehow. :)

I know it's not simplicity or allis but this has been my leaf battle tool for many years.Made it for about $200 in used parts I found .As of yet I transfer it to my utility trailer and bring them to town mulch pile. When I can no longer do that I plan on closing in my small trailer ,putting vac on it ,and making it so I can dump them at end of my lot.I don't have rear neighbors so I won't have to worry about complaints.

Larry, I don't know how to do the quote thing...but I think old farmers were as tough as nails. To think how they had to clear land back then is amazing.
Josh, Yes it does pick up doggy doo provided it's dried out. I'd rather drive than scoop. Larry's right they do kinda dethatch the lawn too. It's my only attachment so it's my favorite. I really need more attachments. |

I think it would do great distributing loads dumped in my drive (loam, manure, gravel, etc) where I could get some traction, and the dump feature works great. The one time I tried it in the woods it got no traction in the moist loam. It seems fine with 300 pounds. |

That would be slick...I see one as being very useful, on front or rear, but yeah...the front would probably be more user friendly. Can you 'dig' at all with it? I'm assuming it's canted a bit, so that you can get a bit of bite? |

Thanks, its nice. You wouldn't believe how much time over the last 20 years spent cleaning it out and restacking it. Those farmers who piled it up 250 years ago clearing fields were a different breed. I had a loader here several years ago moving rocks around and stacking them and oh my aching back!
Spent a half an hour yesterday with my lil loader, this 300 pounder was all it would lift, and it went on a "new" wall where I didn't have to lift it. :)

I haven't tried poo, but it picks up 2" rocks when set down low, and it will actually de-thatch the lawn once it has enough weight in it to get the necassary traction. The hopper acts like a lever and it doesn't take much weight, but when its empty the tires skid a lot when set low. And when doing leaves if you dont chop them up a bit first, it overflows in minuites |

Will those seriously pick up dog doo? Do they do it effectively? If I could save 2 days (yes, 2 days!) of shoveling poop into a 5 gallon bucket after the Spring thaw, it would be worth taking some time later to wash a tractor/sweeper...tires, brush and basket.
Those sweepers may just have become aboslutely invaluable to me! Never thought of sweeping poo. |

Larry, Yours looks a lot like mine. I picked up an Ingersoll this past summer for $75.00. It's very heavy duty and really scours the yard. I told my wife I have a 10 horsepower pooper scooper. I did my yard twice to get enough seat time. . I can't wait to see how it handles the leaves. I don't like to rake the yard unless my grandson is over. By the way I love your rock wall. |

The Arizona Ash are starting to loose their leaves and I expect that they will be bare in two weeks. I have composted them every year and now don't know what to do with all of them. Garden overloaded with organic matter. |

I bought my mower driven vacuum system in 1984 when I bought my 7790. It works real good and I have a ton of leaves to pick up in my yard every year. I bought an old industrial sewing machine for 75.00 ,( Union special),and overhauled it. My first project was to sew a new cover for the mower driven vac. Looks like I'm going to get to see how the new cover works shortly. I used painters canvas drop cloths to make the cover. The originals were made out of vinyl and had a tendency to crack and tear. I hope the canvas works better.

Yup, Ho-Lee-Crap, I didn't know what it was when I bought it. Later I was wondering if parts were available and found I could get the brush and bag delivered for about $300. It doesn't need them for a while yet but nice to know they are there. I paid $200 right down the road from snohikers, LOL, and I got the 3315V pulling it that I have done nada but filters, oil and a battery for $137.50 in "Haah-Ved" Mass, also snohikers backyard, last fall too. Aahh well.. gotta be quick, gotta be ready, and gotta have cash in hand. :) |
