Wont ever be completely done, endless little details never quit. :), not to mention a mower deck, tiller....
I have the story of how I came by this nearly unused Landlord, and a zillion (more) pics of going through it if anyone is interested. Every thing but the fuel system, muffler, seat and paint are original. All the decals, tires etc. are original. It runs and drives every bit as nice as it looks, and here is no wear anywhere - even on the footrests.
Here is my re-furbed still mostly original 2010 Landlord.

Thanks Phil and everyone. As to who will get it when I'm dead and buried? At 50 I'm not worrying about it. I hope I'll have that attitude at 60. My Dad is 62 and "fit as a fiddle". We'll have to wait and see, but I wouldn't start checking the obits just yet!
Your 50? and your Dad is 62? You mean he was riding in the saddle at age 12??? I'd like to meet him and shake his hand!!! |

Completely rebuilt fuel system, rebuilt S/G, cleaned and adjusted voltage regulator, removed head and cleaned and inspected everything, Completely re-worked the electrical system, new battery, new seat, cleaned front bearings and new seals, new belts, new muffler, new ignition switch, new air filter cover, new gas tank, and more. re-used points and plug!
"new" in this case means good used parts from my inventory.
I have over 250 pics start to finnish, maybe do a photobucket album or something. :) |

Larry, very cool. In this throw away society it is great to see someone bring something back to life. It saddens me to see how little things hold value, and everything that just gets replaced instead of fixed. I joked with my wife about how much more it will cost to get the 535 I just got back into shape, and what it would be worth when it's done. One of my favorite quotes is from Sir David Brown, a tractor manufacturer in England who in the late 1950's bought Aston Martin. One of his close friends asked him if he could buy an Aston 'at cost' since he was a friend. Mr. Brown smiled and said "Absolutely! Just add 15% to the sticker price!" I would much rather rebuild these great tractors at a small financial loss and have them around then trash them and buy a piece of crap. History has it's own value. Keep up the good work Larry. Just make sure the museum you leave them to has enough indoor space and enough lawn to mow with them!! :) |

I know not to count the hours, on the other hand whaat will 3k buy that wont be junk in ten years? The mower deck is equally nice and the entire setup will probably still be going strong when I'm dead and buried.
Those hours included a lot of inspection and mechanical work and is an estimate. It was probably more.
I've seen people put hundreds of hours and thousands into frame up resto's I think in this case I'm just as well off and depending how I figure it only paid $150 for it.
And it is NOT FOR SALE! :) |

Larry, when your working on your own stuff, NEVER count the hours....
Never!!!
If you paid yourself $25.00 per hour, you'd have $3,000.00 tied up in the paint job...
Is there anyone on here who will buy it for $3,000.00 plus what you paid for it?

Thanks, this was a "jewel in the rough" if ever there was one. Still took about 120 hours but only had to buy paint. Been wondering if I was sane the last week or so, but I'm glad I did it. I think I'll do a little cosmetic work on the BIG TEN next, they make a neat pair. :) |
