Posted - 04/10/2011 : 18:15:58 Got to do some tilling today. This machine loves it! I have the 8" pulley on the trans so it is geared down from the standard 6.5" but not as slow as the 10" would be. It is a pain putting the rear pto on since I have to remove the wheel, those loaded tires are not fun! But I do appreciate the traction...

Posted - 04/13/2011 : 21:06:00 I have never had the tractor that muddy before, I think the mud makes it look meaner! :) It will be cleaned before too long... |

Posted - 04/13/2011 : 12:23:16 I'm hearing snow for the weekend too, Chris. Before that, plenty of rain. I'm tyring to get as much painting done as possible, before everything gets soggy. Glad I got to the garden while the weather was nice.
I do need me some killer tires like Jon though...it just makes a tractor look like it means business, you know? =] |

Posted - 04/13/2011 : 09:42:02 You guys are killing me. I want to put the tiller on the back of my 7117 but now they are talking two more storms. I broke up some new ground with the 850 Ford yesterday with the hopes that I could till it next week. Now they are talking more SNOW. Will spring never get here? |

Posted - 04/11/2011 : 22:53:56 When I get my tiller back together and get a belt release fabricated I will have to give mine a spin in the garden. With all that is going on I am afraid all will be planted before I get that chance.
I think I will still use my moldboard every year to break the ground. More quality seat time and tilling is in already loose soil and much easier on tractor and tiller alike. |

Posted - 04/11/2011 : 21:33:51 I've been playing in there with the modl board and cultivator for a couple weeks. Yesterday the first pass let me find any sod clumps or rocks I had missed. Today was simply seat time, and it rolled like flour. I need it to settle a bit now... |

Posted - 04/11/2011 : 20:56:10 Love your seat Josh! Your results are better than mine, I was just breaking new ground to even an area to plant grass. Yours look awesome. |

Posted - 04/11/2011 : 20:43:42 Well, I had to share iwth you Jon...I was able to get a bit of time tonite, as the sun was setting. It was great, and much more comfortably cool than yesterday's 84 degrees!
With that HiLo, 1-Lo is a true creaper, and is perfect for running that tiller. Then to run up to the house for gas, or a potty break, 3-Hi jets you outta there lickity-split. I would recommend it to anyone in a hearbeat.
You could nap on that garden tonite, it's light as air! Now that it's established, I think a light spin through there will be all I'll ever need. My favorite attachments list is growing... |

Posted - 04/10/2011 : 23:07:45 That's this week's project, get the B-10 back together and tiller mounted! Spent the weekend on the 712, I'm ready to mow. I am itching to till!! |

Posted - 04/10/2011 : 22:05:53 Jon. I leave the pto on my BigTen year round. I leave the tiller drive belt looped up out of the way. As long as you don't engage the drive all is OK. Doesn't affect the blower so why take it off. Also, make yourself up a 10 in. pulley. Works really nice for tilling and blowing. Dave. |

Posted - 04/10/2011 : 20:28:59 Tell him to take off the price of your gas for the second trip!! :) Or at least split the difference. That doesn't count your time though, I know. |

Posted - 04/10/2011 : 19:59:42 Lookin good Jon...I finally got to use mine today, with the correct PTO. Ran like a dream...far better than last fall's disaster. I went and looked at two 990545's today, and the guy couldn't find the PTO's...after I passed, and made the drive home, he called and said he found them...my deal on them isn't going to be a deal if I make two trips =[ |

Posted - 04/10/2011 : 18:49:34 Next time you mount or dismount the PTO try using some long bolts3-4 inches and replace two of the lug bolts with them then remove the remainder and slide the wheel out on the two long bolts to allow clearance. After you put the short bolts back in then you can remove the two long bolts. |
