Sry about it being sideways, I can't figure out how to turn it. The photo is from my iphone.
I was at my friends house who is doing some work on my 3212H. I needed an old battery to turn in, so he took me out in his woods to his stash of misc. parts and machines. In the back of the area was this under a set of John Deere fenders.
He isn't sure what it is, and I have never seen it before. Its obviously some early ride on mower, but other than that, anyone one have any information on what it may be?

Posted - 11/20/2010 : 11:17:55 LOL. No headlights on the front, just that front fender.
Once I get the 3212 running, I may take a shot on this one.
Never seen anything like it. |

Posted - 11/20/2010 : 10:22:08 Adam, If you can, get a picture of the front of that. To me it looks like it has little hoods or eyelids over headlights.
It'd be cool but I've got tractor number 9 and 10 come rolling in in the last month or so and none were Simplicitys. Makes it kind of rough on the wife (ME especially) when she sees anything other than orange and white that I'm trying to blend in around the yard. Fortunately the Gravely 2 wheeler is the right colors but she always notices how many wheels they have too. I thought I had that hid pretty good with 3 attachments until last weekend when she started digging around for some of her dog agility equipment at 5 a.m. and pitch dark. I told her I put all that stuff in the pool shed. Guess where the Gravely was. She went stumbling around out in the dark and came back in all mad because I had too much stuff in the way for her to get to her stuff. Glad it was dark. |

Posted - 11/20/2010 : 08:32:24 Richard, if you really like it let mr know. We are both in CT and it would be an easy trip for you. I'm sure the guy would make a deal on it.
I would love to get it and restore it just have something to whip around on like a go kart. It is very cute with the front fenders and seat. |

Posted - 11/20/2010 : 00:49:46 Roof Palomino's are the coolest of the old ride mowchines. It looked like a Jeep CJ5 only about the size of a PowerMax. They were made in Indiana I think and I looked for one the whole time I lived in Illinois. Never did see one. I moved here to Connecticut and went to get a loader bucket up in Massachusetts and this guy has 5 Roof Palominos sitting around his yard.
Don't recall ever seeing a Quick mowing machine. It looks like it's got a heckuva 3 speed shifter though. I've got a 18 hp vertical Vangaurd sitting in the shed that would make that a great "go to the mailbox" ride. I like the real tractor seat too. That rounded out hood and fenders look like it could take well to a customization. Bar stool racer is right. |

Posted - 11/20/2010 : 00:38:50 I'll bet the guy that bought it new was very proud of it. I would have been the envy of every kid in the neighborhood if I would have had something like that to mow with. I wonder what it sold for new?

Posted - 11/19/2010 : 22:44:28 I did some looking and apparently Quick Mfg made small tractors, tillers and mowers in the 60's and 70's. Looks like they may have survived as an importer of a variety of junk.
Springfield 30 made by Quick Mfg.

Posted - 11/19/2010 : 22:31:20 Very primative. The brakes are basically a metal bar that gets pushed down against the rear tires.
On the back there is a tab: "Model No. 357A Quick Mfg Inc. Springfield Ohio" |
