Posted - 06/15/2010 : 07:23:27 While at the swap meet in Portland, IN I met a fellow that had this mower for sale. He said he bought it because it was for an Allis B-1. However, the brackets on it were for a Cub Cadet and he did not have the ones to fit the Allis. Anyone ever seen one on an Allis or Simplicity?
As you can see in the background of the second pic, is the AC 300/400 sickle mower which got most of my attention and I was able to acquire..... I didn't forget the weed mower though. A few weeks later I got in touch with William "Geezer" DeTurk, a Cub Cadet and M&W enthusiast. He told me that he had seen some literature on it but had never see one and thought they had never been manufactured as the factory had burned down around that time period. After showing him the pictures I had taken and giving him the owners contact information, he made a deal to acquire it. Hopefully, he will send me scans of the rest of the owners manual soon and I'll get them on here.

Posted - 12/15/2010 : 12:50:50 I like that alot. It looks like my weed cutter cuts a little wider path at 40 inches, but that looks like it can be used as a finish mower to some degree to. The weed cutter is definately for rough cuts. Plus it only adjusts from 4.5 to 9 inches anyway. I do like that, we'll have to see photos of it next year in action! |

There is a sickle bar in the link that I just put in my other post. The guy was asking $300 if it is still there. But it is in MAINE, which is a hike from pretty much anywhere.

Posted - 07/28/2010 : 12:44:42 that thing is awesome.
I've recently been looking for something like this to handle higher brush that would just be too much trouble with the regular mower deck.
Have you tried it out yet? Would love to see a video.
Has anyone made anything home-made for this purpose?

Posted - 06/17/2010 : 01:33:28 man I want one now... lol just like the weedcutters simplicity made, but whished that they had used the front PTO like this one more offen, mainly on the snow blowers.
phil I know what you ment lol "Not terribly elegant, is it?" but it looks great on that B1 surprised that did not retool this implment bet they would have sold alot around the mid west small enough to mow around the corn and bean fields and around the pond. |

"Geezer" gave me a copy of a brochure for it but have not been able to get my scanner to work. Here are a couple of paragraphs from it.
"It's a weed cutter that can also be used on lawns - not a lawn mower that might work on weeds."
“The M&W mower burr-cuts a swath 34 inches wide and cuts as low as ¾ of an inch and as high as 11 inches from the ground surface.”
“Whether you’re cutting 2” or 10” high – the M&W cutter is always “on the level.” New parallel bar lift frame keeps the cutter head flat at all times – no tilting or tipping when cutting height is changed. The tractor’s standard lift lever is used to lift or lower the mower.”
Also, the bottom section consisting of the safety guard with caster wheel is considered a lawn cutting accessory kit.
