712 Shuttle. I bought this one for 3 main reasons: 1) the ags, 2) the lead weights (they are lead, not steel), and the snowblower.

I have to get used to the Shuttle. I keep forgetting that I have to use that thing under my right foot to stop, unlike the hydro where I never touch it.

I have to make a shroud over the Kohler's cooling fins, looks like the PO lost the one that was there.

She'll get fresh oil and BGB fluid before I do anything with her.

No, on this series the heat shield is a lot smaller. Here's the one I made up:

It's really not so much a shield, but designed to force the air past most of the cooling fin surface. The one I made up duplicates an original (seen here, on my 716H):

You were saying that a heat shield is missing... Did it look like the one my 716H has?
I had a fella tell me that 716H's didnt come with this heat shield but I bought mine from the original owner..

This is actually an original one I got from another club member at a really good price. I sprayed the back of it white to match the original.

That's much better, but new seats are expensive..

Ok, ditched the homemade "seat" and put a real seat on it:

Much better

I will go thru the adjustment procedure in the manual, if I run into any problems you can help right? :-) Actually it seems to run fine fwd and rev. I changed the engine oil and the BGB fluid today. It does sound kinda like a threshing machine when in reverse... have to grease the planetary gearset I guess.

AC716H, I cut my teeth on the geared transmissions 40 years ago and really feel comfortable with the clutch, however you do not have to use it. You can shift without it from forward to neutral to roll to a stop or feather it into reverse to stop it quicker. The shuttle was designed to be used in that manner and just takes a lighter touch than your hydro.

Phil, I have to get used to the Shuttle. I know you really like yours. I was considering taking the engine out and putting it in the other hydro I have (engineless) but I spent some time with this girl in the garage today, and I think I am going to restore her instead.

Looks very nice. Wouldn't mind finding something like that myself...
