It almost went off without a hitch. After opening the drain I went to my truck to get a paper towel to wipe my hand and while I was away the top pan overflowed because the drain to the holding tank could not keep up. What a mess. I lost 2-3 liters over the side into my crushed limestone. Had to stop and shovel out a 5 gal bucket load of rock to clean up. The part I was dreading "Changing the filter" was a snap even though the filter cartridge is in a housing on top the engine. There was almost no drips of oil. Not messy as i had anticipated. Changing the oil filter requires a special 84mm wrench to remove the "cap".
It does not look like much but I have been looking for one for weeks and prices were crazy high $50-100. I got this one from Amazon for the best price I could find $20.80. Curiously enough it is not made to accept 3/8" square drive. Instead you have to use a 7/8" socket as there is no room to use an end wrench. It is made in USA.
I also managed to reset the Mercedes Assyst System. That instructions are an open secret held by Mercedes so most people will give up and just go to the dealer to get their oil changed and system reset to the tune of $250-325. |

Reminds me of the first time we changed oil in the shop's current roll-back, we found out REAL quick like the bucket wasn't big enough! An IH 466 holds a LOT of oil! Good work figuring out what they didn't want you to. |
