Here is my 1961 Allis Chambers D17. It was given to me by my Neighbour in 2002 when they sold the horse farm and moved to town for health reasons.
He was afraid of the horses so I would go down and doctor a horse for him some times.
He was such a putts when it came to hand tools he thought a hammer was as good as a screw driver so I worked on his lawn tractor (TSC Huskee) a lot. I also plowed his drive way a lot with Kares 1951 pacer.
My 1951 Massey harris 44 single front wheel. When I bought it at a JD dealer.
And dad taking second place with it at the Evart Michigan stock tractor pull a year latter.

The D17 is a gas tractor. I mounted the loader George bought from a news paper ad.
I have 2 diesel tractors, the 555 and the 44 special.

Don't see many of those single wheel models around here. We had a 44 when I was growing up on the farm. The clay hills really made her grunt and lifted the front wheels off the ground quite often when plowing uphill. Ours was a standard narrow front with 2 wheels.
Greetings all, from Waynesville, NC. I remember when the D-17 was the top of the line for Allis Chalmers, and the day my dad drove one home from a local dealer who had been selling parts off of it (a Floor-plan tractor) to repair customer's tractors. I couldn't have been much more that 8 or 10 at the time but I was duly impressed. |

My 1949 55 gas top.
My 1957 555 diesel bottom.
My son so long ago with the 1952 Mustang, same as the 22 pretty much except it came with 3 point hitch.
The 1956 333 gas. Would have hated being married or living with the woman of the house. Told the man to get rid of that thing as it was an eye sore in to orchard. Got pissed when I asked her to sign a bill of sale when she took the money for it a couple days latter when I picked it up. Fellow called me and complained so I told him I would bring the tractor back and get my money back minius the fair amount for my labor and hauling.
Never mind he says.

 George called me up one day and asked if I could find the time to go look at a few tractors he had been looking at. He really wanted a Ford 8N with power steering and a front loader but couldn't seem to find one with the power steering. DA They never built them with power steering back then.
First was some indrustal model IH. Hyrdrilic pump was squelling so loud when you tried to lift the bucket it hurt the ears.
I really liked the IH 300 utility with a small bucket and a big one adaptor for the fast hitch to a 3 point unit and a 7ft sickle mower.
When George said he didn't want it I called my brother in law and he bought it.
Next we looked at this D17 which was at a consignment auction for the next week end. There was a C allis there with a front loader, culitvators, plow and a Allis snap clouping hitch disk.
I came home and told Kare george was going to buy the C.
Monday George called and asked if I could go get the D17 for him.
He bought the loader, a trailer plow, snap coupling feild cultivator, back blade and a dirt scoop that also mounted to the snap coupling hitch out of a news paper add. I mounted the front loader for him.

BIL with his 1945 101 senior at the Hersey Michigan tractor pull taking first in the 5000 class.
My 1965 Ford 5000 gas taking a standard 4th in the 8000 pound class at the same pull.
