But I can't afford this one

I always thought these were neat machines, as they were limited in production and built just down the highway from me in Dowagiac, MI by DEMCO in teh late '50's, early '60's. I read a document once that estimated only 800-1000 were ever built.

Yeah, so I'm told. The company was only around for about 10 years. DEMCO (Design, Engineering, Manufacturing Co) was a local small company that started by producing high end picture frames, then aftermarket starters for David Bradley's. When that market dried up, they designed, produced and started selling a riding garden tractor within 6 months. They are known for their quality design, but when the company sold to AMF, they cheapened the gears resulting in Consumer complaints, and they dropped the GT altogether.

Wonder why so few were built. Was that a local tractor?

Gee! I thought you meant Isuzu Amigo! and was thinkIng " why?" I sold one, one time and made a big bonus because the dealership couldn't seem to give them away. I think I had to sell it a couple of hundred behind invoice despite the dealership spending several hundred dollars in extras trying to make it more attractive to buyers.
