go for a 1056, 1256, 1456 there awesome machines. I like the later QT and GT models myself, but you seem to go old school on your tractors. ALL bolens are shaft drive decks, most have shaft drive front PTOs for blowers and great front blade system |

Id recommend making sure it has the pin in the right side hub so It can be moved if it breaks down...sometimes the pin boss breaks and the owner welds it back solid....then the worm drive tranny is locked up when the thing isnt running...it can be a real pain if you need to move it with a welded pin
20 sounds good...at least you'll have a local source for parts |

next time i'am up at my buddy's i will have to take a look at them. i'am sure he will sell me on cheap. he's got about 20 of them. some back in the 50's i would say. what's a good one that you would recamend? |

Well there are the two Bolens tractors. I REALLY dislike Deere tractors. I think they are over engineered, over priced, over rated tractors, on top of that they built a million garden tractors by 1983 so there a dime a dozen, there a butch to work on, and around here you can't give them away. Only ones I would consider is a 1965 110 round fender or a 1978 316 single cylinder 16hp kohler, only made one year. BTW I also have a 60x40 barn with a 30x40 concrete work area I keep my project tractors |

Boy if I lived close to you I would not have to work out in the rain on my deutz. That aries is a sharp looking tractor fact is they all look good.Don't see any green. Dale |
