That looks like what influenced them making the BX series; definitely not the same. Interesting though. |

I don't see that happening. I think my Brother or the School is going to get the Kubota after I get it back in shape. |

Michael, Well, not exactly, I mowed with it today and it was not pretty.  I will not post pictures as it may be too shocking for some of our readers at both ends of the age spectrum. . To be fair the mower is a well made shop fabrication but the guage wheels need replacing.. The mower must weigh a ton as it is very thick and reinforced with rebar around all the edges. Even so it will never cut like my 3414. If I keep the beast I may use for rough cut only, or ditch the mower all together.
It feels like a very powerful little tractor. 
Throttle response with 37 cid 3 cyl diesel is immediate. After 20 minutes it was running in the middle of the heat range. The appearance of the Kubota tractor is massive compared to my 3414 but according to the manual the Kubota is a lightweight by about 90#. Steering is much easier but is very busy for the purposes of mowing. One thing that is evident is that the front end is carrying about 75-80% of the weight. This is one tractor that must have ballast in the rear tires. I have a lot of work to do as it has not had proper lubrication in some time. The transmission foot control is stiff and will not return to neutral when released. The parking brake can not be set while you are still in the drivers seat. Something is bent or just so dry it won't move easily. The result is that when I started it this morning it was in reverse without my knowledge and I promptly backed it into the rear of my Sweet Allis. Luckily it was Drawbar to hitch so no damage was done to Allis. I need to work on the transmission control linkage and the brakes as soon as I have a chance to figure out how to get the one piece cowl and fender off the tractor. The operators manual is just that. No lubrication guide, no exploded drawing...just, put the fuel in here, set your butt here, put the key in here, and go. need a service manual badly. As I was driving it today I was thinking "FEL". figure out how to harness that hydraulic power and put it to work.
There is definitely no thought given to rear mounted implements!
I have been trying to figure out how I can squeeze that oil burner into my tractor. |

I'd love to have a diesel! Knocks don't matter Phil, it's the sudden cessation of knocking you have to worry about!

Roy, MY 3414 makes it over it just fine. You know this Kubota is a massive thing but I really don't think it is too much heavier than my Simplicity. I have to do some reading. PO gave me what looks like a reprinted Owners manual.

Humm, Phil, you need to build a ramp going into your storage building. That's a pretty good drop off for any wheeled vehicle to drive over.

well, I got it. I went over with the idea of haggling with him but could not bring myself to do it. He and his wife are so gosh darn nice. They have three kids and he works for Lowes. He cuts lawns on the side to make ends meet. And he recently bought a ZTR Toro. He said the kubota though fun and all was too clumsy for his mowing business and was too prone to leaving ruts. It runs good. It has a knock in the engine I think a good grade of gasoline will cure. . As for overheating, he said It has gotten high in the normal range which he said made him very nervous but it has never over heated nor has it never boiled over or even been in the "red zone". He even gave me a very serviceable spare tire for my trailer. He was concerned about my trailer that he offered to take the tractor to my house on his trailer for nothing. The thing what was most evident is that I seemed to know more about the tractor than he. That is a little scary.
But I hate it already!!! I got the dang mower hung up on the ramp for my shed and have it stuck. I'll have to work on that tomorrow evening if is isn't raining. You can see the battery charger on the machine. I hear that their batteries are only marginally adequate for that little diesel.

7790's are loud as heck to, but get yourself a set of earmuffs. That is what I mow with. Price is right if the engine did not get too hot. ( its not the right orange )
