Heading to St Louis in the morning to pick up another Bush Hog D4-10. A member of my yahoo Bush Hog group offered it to any member there for $50! Has complete mower deck too. Rusty as all get out, but sound metal. Engine turns free.
300 miles one way, but taking the girls to go up in the Gateway Arch while that close. The Arch is only 21 miles past the tractor. Taking the girls makes the trip well worth it, plus I don't hafta feel guilty!  Will post some pics later on. Will get home late tomorrow night & have to milk the cows the next morning, so I'll be a bit tired for a day or so. |

Turns out the diaphram spring on pto clutch has one of the 3 pressure points broken off. Those off an older Cub Cadet will work fine as a replacement. Mowed with it just a couple minutes this afternoon. We moved a piece of equipment, so mowed where it was sitting. Not had any time to do more on it. |

I did a little mowing with it today. Deck idler had to be replaced & adjusted the pto clutch as it was slipping. Everything needs going over much better, but just had to mow with it. Never got to mow with any of my Bush Hog tractors till now. It should mow quite well with a real engine tune-up & some minor work. |

She's now running AND driving. After milking this morning I dove into it. The trans was stuck, but got her freed up. The bearings likely all need replacing, but the gears look great! It's running, but not near perfect. Later I'll dial stuff in better. In the video clip you'll see at first the shifter is sticky, but she does shift better the more I drive it. You may not believe this, but after milking the cows this morning, I jumped right into the D4-10 engine. Had a sticking exhaust valve. Got that working & took carb off one of my D4-10's & put on her. That engine is now running! Runs good, but lotsa smoke. May clear out after a while of running. I took a video clip that I'll get on photobucket later. |

Phil, I was off today from milking anyway, but got another tractor as a bonus. Girls had a great time at the Arch. I've been there before, but the sheer SIZE of the Arch is completely amazing, no matter how many times I see it! When you're underneath it & look straight up, it is an UNBELIEVEABLE sight! |

My wife & I have been up during one of our annual trips to KC dairy meeting, but the girls never wanted to make the KC trip. This one is short enough a trip for them to be looking forward to it. Yep, they will love it! |
